Need a solid understanding of the retail industry? This short online course gives you a thorough introduction to retail with a specific focus on product planning and pricing design. From years of experience, we have been able to identify the main factors involved in the placement and management of stock. This includes category contribution, days of supply and space elastic demand.

At the end of this course, you will complete an online test to certify the knowledge gained. Course material can be accessed via our Android or IOS mobile app or through any browser.

What to expect:

At the end of this short course, you’ll be able to:

  • Identify the different types of retailers,
  • Confidently discuss the 4P’s for successfully growing a retail organisation,
  • Classify the various types of brands as well as understand why data is vital to retail, 
  • Identify factors considered prior to pricing, and creating the pricing strategy, 
  • Explore the different pricing strategies and common mistakes to avoid,
  • Explain and discuss three main factors when placing stock on shelf. (Category contribution, days of supply and space elastic demand.)

How long will the course take?

This short course consists of four individual videos, which take you a total of 46 minutes’ to watch. There are also additional references for each module for you to read and study in your own time. You can rewatch each video as often as you like before taking the test. There is support available if required.

What you’ll get upon completion:

You’ll receive a certificate from the DotActiv Academy indicating that you’ve passed. Please note, a pass mark for this short course is 70%.

If you do not pass the first time, you can retake the test immediately. However, if you do not reach the pass mark twice in a row, you have to wait 24 hours before retaking the test.
